Planning Exterior Updates

After a little hiatus from home updates, the hubbs and I decided it was time to get moving again. Yay!  (Probably more exciting for me than for him considering I'm blogging at the moment and he is painting.)

First, I wanted to add a little "fall cheer" to our front steps so we headed out to pick up some mums and a couple pumpkins to set out. While at Home Depot for the flowers, we decided to also go ahead and pick out some paint colors for our front door and our shutters since I HATE our  current puke-green shutters and door.

We grabbed our super bright yellow mums, a dark blue paint for our shutters, a bright blue paint for our front door and a few paint supplies.

As you can see, we enjoyed our visit to Home Depot. It was especially exciting when we went to check out. Our cashier dropped our quart of bright blue paint top down onto the floor. The paint slowly started pouring out and she couldn't get a hold of the cap to pick it up. Instead, the entire can of paint poured out onto the floor and into her hands. It was terrible. As we went back to get our paint order refilled, all I could think was, "Thank goodness I didn't  drop it."

Brent is painting the shutters as we speak and although it is brighter in color than we expected, I think it will work. We'll post photos later so you can help us decide.

Until next time...

  1. Can't wait til we see the finished product :)

  2. Give it a 2nd or 3rd coat, I'm sure those shutters sucked the paint in quick and the color will get darker the more coats you go - granted you know this, why am I even attempting to give such a suggestion. I know better. :)

Hilarious photos from The Home Depot - made this post just right. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the results!

    Clean up on Aisle 1!

  3. It has been 4 days, where are the "ta da" after photos?! :)

    Inquiring minds want to know!
