Preggers Update!

I have now reached 15 weeks in my pregnancy.

At my last appointment I had officially gained only one pound during my first trimester. I have quite a bit to go, but it feels like I'm starting to catch up. Our next appointment is the BIG one. On December 30th, we have our sex-revealing ultrasound. Woop, woop!

Overall, I'm feeling pretty darn good and things seem to be progressing well.

Now I need to show off my adorable furbabies. We had a mini photo shoot at the house to try and snag a good shot of Mak and Maeby for our family Christmas cards. (They may not be so much of a focus on next year's card. Someone new might be stealing their lime light.) Look how cute they are...

Don't you just love them?

Until next time...

Telling the Sisters

When it came time to announce our baby news to the sisters we had to come up with a creative way to tell my sisters, Heather and Kelsey, from a distance. What we decided was to send a letter with a sonogram photo that said absolutely nothing other than "Guess Who" on the front. Even with no information from us, it was pretty obviously who the news was from.

Needless to say we got some excited phone calls (particularly from Kelsey) asking for all the details. I turned out to be pretty fun for everyone.

Now Liz (Brent's little sister) got the news in a little bit of a different way. We had a family photo set up with Brent's Mom's side of the family right after we had announced the news to our parents and decided to use the opportunity to tell Liz and the rest of the family our big news.

During the "photo shoot" we had the photographer say "Liz is gonna be an aunt!" so we would have pictures of her reaction. They turned out pretty well. Take a peek. (The first one is before the announcement.)

Afterwards, Liz also got a card to remember it by that said "Aunt Liz" and had a sonogram picture on the inside just like the ones we sent to Heather and Kelsey.

We obviously had a lot of fun coming up with the ways to spill the beans.

Craft Time: Easy Headband (and a Preggers Update)

I'm trying to grow my hair out. The last time I attempted to do that, I gave up and cut it shorter than ever, but this time I'm determined. My plan to make it through the awkward stages of hair growth is to wear as many headbands as possible to distract people.

Last night, I opted to make my own. I bought a pack of plain, thin headbands from Target for a few bucks and then used some left over fabric and felt from my craft stash. Add a hot glue gun and wham...cute new headband.

Not bad for a few minutes time, right. Now, time for a Preggers Update...

I'm at (almost) 14 weeks, but here's my first official pregnancy photo from 12 weeks. Not much to see yet, but there's a little pooch that I'm having to get used to. I'll have a new one in a week or two.

Wreath Updates for Thanksgiving

I decided to update my Halloween yarn wreath so that it was more suitable through Thanksgiving. I just removed the little spider and added some brown sheer ribbon that I already had in my stash. Oh, and I moved it to the front door and created a new item for the back door in just a few minutes. Check them out...

The second one was created with items I had around the house. I had the frame and just removed the glass, printed out the phrase on a sheet of paper, added the flowers (leftover from the yarn wreath) and tied it up with a bit of twine. Easy-peasy.

There's a Baby Coming...

So now that the news is officially "out", I want to show you all how the hubby and I announced the news to our parents. We had them all over for dinner and led them into our "extra bedroom" which has been nothing but a storage room since we moved in. We told them that we had finally cleaned out the room so we opened the door for them to see a newly empty room and this is what they saw...

Brent had painted the entire room including trim just in time for the surprise and I snagged the rug on sale from a website online. Whether we have a boy or a girl (Brent is predicting boy), we wanted to keep the room a neutral option so we went with a pale blue-green for the walls. We're thinking an animal themed nursery might be perfect.

(The sweet blanket was made by my grandmother who has passed. My mom gave it to me a while back since she knows I love those types of blankets and I can't wait to use it for our little one.)

Needless to say the parents, especially the soon-to-be grandmamas, were very surprised and excited. They also got a special "Our First Grandchild" frame to take home.

We had a lot of fun. Announcing to the sisters was fun too, but I'll tell you about that later.

WARNING: Now that the news is out, be prepared for lots of baby/nursery themed posts. I'm pretty sure that's why I haven't had it in me to post very often. I'm too baby focused to write about anything else or to accomplish anything else around the house. You've been warned.

Until next time...
