Kelly's Graduation Party

My brother-in-law, Kelly, graduated a couple weekends ago from the University of Memphis. My sister, being oh so proud, decided to throw him a graduation party. My mom hosted the gathering and took care of all the amazing food while I assisted with the invitation design and decorations.

I think it all turned out pretty well and the graduation boy didn't seem too embarrassed by it all. Friends and family alike joined in to celebrate. Here are some pictures my hubby took of the set up which merged Christmas decor and the "school" theme...

Congrats, grad!

Until next time...

Preggers Update: 18 Weeks

We are now 18 weeks into our pregnancy and less than 2 weeks away from knowing if that monster in there is a little boy or a little girl. I've been feeling pretty well over all, although I do seem to be getting some heartburn which is less than pleasant.

I keep worrying off and on about whether I'm eating enough, gaining enough, etc. because my appetite doesn't seem to be increasing even though the "books" tell me it should be kicking into high gear these days. Now, after checking my new photo next to my 15 weeks photo, I'm wondering if I'm too big already. Geez...could this be a little less confusing?

If I could just have someone follow me around at all times and say "yep, that's normal", I think I'd be good. Message me if you're interested in the position.

Until next time...

Memphis Christmas

The hubbs and I spent this past weekend in Memphis for my bro-in-laws graduation, but we  also got to celebrate Christmas early with my family since we'll be in Nashville the actual holiday. I love spending time with my family and this weekend was no different.

I'll be posting pictures from the graduation party later, but here are out Christmas photos. We just exchanged our gifts to the family and we opened their gifts to us...

Here's Maeby's brother, Dexter. He was a nut!
Heather and Kelly got us "Your Baby Can Read"...we'll see. :)
I'm a little excited about this one...
The item I was celebrating about was from Mom & Dad.

Brent got Thor & the Red Hot Chili Peppers CD from Kelsey.
Kelsey is opening our gift to her which is for her new hobby.
How cute does she look?
Earrings from Kelsey.
Dexter again.
A gift from mom & dad.
Mom LOVES  snowmen and these little soap dispensers were perfect for her.
Heather & Kelly got us this ADORABLE hat and gloves for our little one.
He or she will be styling next winter.
Kelly checking out his pocket fishing pole.
Heather showing off her new wall art.
MY OWL LAMP!!! I have been dying to get this lamp FOREVER and  it will be perfect for our nursery.
I was super excited.

Dad was there too, but somehow he escaped being in a picture. Sneaky dad.

A Budding Photographer?

My husband has shown an interest in photography over the past couple years. He's learned quite a few Photoshop tricks and we finally got ourselves a nice camera for him to play with. (It was our Christmas gift to each other which we purchased before Thanksgiving...impatient, huh?) We got a Canon Rebel T2i and it's been wonderful.

Brent got his opportunity to practice with our new camera when we had some models friends that wanted us to take pictures of their adorable family for their Christmas card. We had a ton of fun taking the pictures and Brent did some great Photoshop work to jazz them up.

Take a look...

He also worked some magic on an oh-so-cute picture of Mak...

Not bad, huh? I'm pretty proud and he'll be able to rock out our baby's pictures come May. :)

Until next time...

We Ordered a Crib!

We just ordered our baby's crib! I'm super excited. I really didn't want to spend a large amount of money on a crib, but of course we want something super sturdy for a sweet one. I think we found a good, classic option.

DISCLAIMER: Once a crib has been chosen, it's kind of like once the baby's name has been decided...if you have negative opinions, you're not allowed to share them. (At least don't share them with me.) It's not changing so now is the time to "just go with it."

If you have positive comments, however, share away. :)

OK. Now that we have that settled. Here's our crib selection:

It's the DaVinci Jenny Lind 3 in 1 Crib. It has 4 mattress levels and converts to a toddler bed when needed. The reviews were great so we're hoping we love it just as much in person as we do online.

It's really exciting to start purchasing items for the nursery. This is our first big baby purchase and I can't wait to have it finally set up in the nursery.

I also found some bedding that I love, but I'll wait to show you that a bit later. We'll probably be registering for those items rather than snagging them ourselves. (I need to learn to be patient otherwise we won't have anything for people to buy as shower gifts.)

For those of you that have already had little ones, do you remember anything that you just HAD TO HAVE for your nursery? Do share.

Until next time...

A Few of My Favorite Nurseries

Here's a few of my favorite nursery designs. Some I'll be stealing ideas from, others I just love to love. What do you guys think?

A barn door? Yeah, to die for.

Love the neutral color with the pop of orange. And who doesn't love stripes?

Love the bold chair and wall mural, but I really dig the light fixture.

What adult wouldn't want to hang out in this nursery?

This room is just oh, so sweet.

My favorite. Amazing.
So there's a few rooms I'm digging. There are many, many more, but at least you got a taste.

I can't wait to tackle our nursery. I've seen that last nursery before, but I didn't realize until now that I painted our room a very similar color and totally bought that rug too. I guess that one is the true inspiration. I'll keep you posted as we continue our efforts.

Until next time...
