I Love Mail!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I love getting mail. You know, the non-bill, non-junk mail kind of mail? It's always such a surprise and a joy!

Last night we received a package from my Aunt Terri and Uncle Frank in Kansas City. It was a wonderful gift for Neil Fisher. Terri actually handmade a beautiful baby quilt for us! I can't wait to use it for some "tummy-time" with our little man. We also got an adorable elephant  (I'm a sucker for elephants) that plays music and, my husband's favorite, a "Storm Poopers" onsie.

Overall, a pretty perfect gift and an awesome way wrap up our Monday night. Thanks, Terri and Frank!

A book we order also arrived in the mail last night. It is Becoming Babywise: Giving your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep. It is supposed to help us set up a healthy sleeping schedule for our little man. I've had a few friends recommend it and it is supposed to have wonderful results, but we shall see. (You know this lady loves her sleep so I'll try anything.) I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes for us.

Until next time..

Preggers Update: 32 Weeks

It's Week 32! My little sis passed through this weekend so we got a few shots of her with me and the belly. I think she's still a little surprised at the fact that there is a "human growing in my belly."

Here's our weekly update according to babycenter.com: By now, our baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in my uterus. I'm gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to Fisher. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth.

This week we begin our Childbirth Education classes. We will have a class every Tuesday now until the end of April. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm hoping it will help us feel a little more prepared for our new adventure.

Alright, two months to go.

Until next time...

We Dig Denver

Back in February the hubbs and I visited some friends in Denver, Colorado. We had a great time with Matt and Christa (and Kona) and really loved the city. Brent and Matt went skiing and snowboarding for a couple days while us preggo ladies went to a movie, shopped and got pedicures. Not bad, right?

While there we also saw a few sites (Red Rocks Amphitheater, Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak) and took quite a few pictures.

We are lucky that our friends are quite skilled in photography (christaandmatt.com)and were sweet enough to take some pictures of us while we were out and about as well. They turned out really well!

I can't wait to visit again, especially now that they have their little man, Keeton. We plan to make Keeton and Fisher pen-pals. Check out their little cutie...

Congrats, Matt & Christa!

Until next time...

Mini Kitchen Update Revealed

On this previous post, I showed some "in progress" work of our mini kitchen update. Well, we finally completed (for now) the changes thanks to Brent's mad spray painting skills. Here's a look at the "new" kitchen. (Keep in mind we plan to do a full renovation one day, but it needs to be cute and functional along the way and I think we've accomplished that.)

Here are a couple"before" pictures to remind you of how it all started out...

  • We started with the white kitchen table.
  • We spray painted our old wooden chairs in a bright color to spice things up.
  • We added new storage under the floating upper cabinets.
  • We updated and moved the pendant light fixture.
  • We painted the trim white and painted the walls a fresh blue.
  • We added the floating shelves and chalkboard to the wall above the table to help make the upper cabinets look a little less strange.
Much happier, don't you agree?

Until next time...

Preggers Update: 31 Weeks

We had another doctor's appointment on Friday to check on me and baby Fisher. We are both doing great and he is right on track as far as his growth. Over the next 9 weeks my little man will DOUBLE his weight...oh, yay. He has already caused me to gain 22 pounds and I'll be gaining (at least) another pound per week until he arrives. Every woman's dream, right?

Week 31 has brought on chronic back pain and miserable attempts at sleeping through the night. If I don't need to pee, then Fisher is moving around like crazy. If all is calm, then my back is killing me. If my back is fine, then I have horrible acid reflux. If my throat isn't on fire, then I'm sweating to death...Getting the idea?

Week 31 makes me realize pregnancy is lame. (But it's still pretty awesome. You know, I think I have a love/hate relationship with my pregnancy experience.)

Until next time...

Momma Got Skills

My mom, with her killer new craft skills, made me a wreath to put on our hospital door when our little man decides to make an appearance. I absolutely love how it turned out!

Adorable, right? I can't wait til it's time to put it to use. Only 9 weeks to go!

Until next time...

Preggers Update: 30 Weeks

We are at week 30!

Here's our baby update according to babycenter.com: He's about 15.7 inches long now, and weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage).

Here is what's new with me: I have acid reflux all the time, I'm slightly anemic (now taking  an iron supplement) and I have to rock fuzzy slippers around the house now because my feet hurt when standing on the hard floor surfaces. Oh, and I now want to boycott picking up anything off the floor due to my growing belly bump.

Now, before we check out my current shape, here's a look back at how my baby bump (and hair) has grown over the past weeks.

Here's how I'm looking these days...

Until next time...

P.S. I realized today that my hipbones are no longer able to be found and (just in case you were wondering) my belly button is starting to look weird, like really weird.
