Fisher is 7 Months!

This is almost two weeks late, but here's the 7 month update for Fisher.

We had a check up yesterday so Fish could get his second flu shot and here are his current stats (at 7 months and 11 days.) He is now 18 lbs & 3 oz.

Here's what's been going on during his 7th month:
  • He has mastered his scoot/drag crawling. He can really move and now is full-on crawling on his knees. (That started a little after 7 months.)
  • He is sitting up really well unassisted and is getting close to being able to push himself up into the sitting position.
  • He is still grabbing his feet. He's just so stinking flexible!
  • He has a lot more hair these days and even though it's lighter than it was at birth, it seems to be getting a bit darker now.
  • We are still keeping bedtime at around 7:15pm and are up around 7:30am. Some days he's up earlier, but he plays happily in his crib which is wonderful.
  • We are eating fruits and veggies! He seems to like most everything. We're eating fruits, veggies and cereals.
  • HE GOT HIS FIRST TOOTH! I still can't believe it! The first tooth was one of the center bottom teeth and now (past 7 months) we have a second tooth!
  • He is now "babbling" and talking up a storm. He's officially said "mama" (yay!), but I think that was really after we hit the 7 month mark.
  • He loves to jump. That kid can rock out in his Jumperoo.
  • He is obsessed with his walker. He can spend 45 minutes in that thing just scooting all around the room.
  • Fisher received his first Imagination Library book this month.

This month we celebrated Thanksgiving and Fisher enjoyed tons of family time. He also had his first family Christmas party on the day he turned 7 months. It was really fun to introduce him to Christmas gifts. (He was mainly interested in the bow or paper, as expected.)

Here are some pictures from the past month:

Time to Catch Up

So it's not total laziness that has kept me from blogging lately. It's actually the fact that I've been out of space to post photos for a while now and really didn't want spend the money to purchase more space. But I'm ready to return.

Get ready because you're about to get hit with quite a few catch-up posts. We've got Fisher's 7 month update, Thanksgiving, Christmas, a few craft projects and even a new photography adventure with the hubby to cover. Oh yeah, I know you are excited.

Until next time...

Fisher is 6 Months!

Fisher is 6 months! Seriously? Half a year, already? Geez...

We had his 6 month check yesterday and his current stats are:

  • 17 lbs & 7.4 oz - He's just slightly over 5oth percentile in weight.
  • 27 in long - He jumped up to 75th percentile in height. I told Brent this will probably be the only time he's considered "tall" or he isn't taking after his daddy.

Here's what's been going on the past month:
  • He is really good at scooting himself around on his belly. He mostly turns in circles, but he is learning to move forward a bit too.
  • He loves, LOVES the pups now. We have fun chasing the dogs around and he loves letting Maeby kiss him.
  • He is sitting up really well when assisted and can even hold himself up for a few minutes on a good day.
  • He still really loves grabbing his feet. He especially pulls on them during diaper changes.
  • His hair is slowly increasing, but is definitely lighter than it was at birth. He's actually got quite a bit now, but it all seems to be in the back and it's slowly making it's way to the front and top of his head.
  • He is still sleeping through the night great! Bedtime is around 7:15 and we are up around 7am. He's started waking up earlier, but he plays happily in his crib which is wonderful.
  • We transitioned from nursing to formula this month. I officially stopped nursing a couple weeks ago and he seems to be doing great with the formula.
  • We are eating veggies! We've introduced squash, green beans, carrots and peas. We're about to get started on some fruits as well and we still do a little rice cereal or oatmeal. It has been a  hilarious process to watch!
  • Along with the veggies, we've started using the highchair for the first time. It makes me feel like he's growing up so fast to see him in a "big boy" chair.

Other than Halloween we haven't had any new major activities this month, but Brent and I are spending our first night away from Fisher tonight. Ah! We are doing a late anniversary celebration (now that I'm no longer nursing) and my parents are coming in town to spend the night with Fish. I'm very excited, but it will be a bit tough to leave my little man all night. I just love seeing that little face before bed and first thing in the morning. (tear)

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Our little lion is in bed so while the hubbs and I are hanging out waiting on trick-or-treaters I figured I'd do a quick post on a simple project I did for the holiday. My mom made Fisher this wreath for the hospital and I decided to rework it for Halloween. (Don't worry. I got permission before taking it apart and I saved all the little details for Fisher's baby book.)

Luckily, my mom used a neutral twine on the wreath so it can work for a multitude of purposes. By only using a small amount of hot glue to attach my decorations, I can easily pop off my Halloween items and replace them with the next holiday or season's theme. Here's the wreath all dressed up for Halloween:

Super easy, but totally adorable, right? Have I mentioned that I love my Cricket? Yep. Sure do. Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do to change it up since this one will be out of date in about...uh, four hours.

Now I leave you with the cutest lion you've ever seen.

 Until next time...

THIRTY

A couple weekends ago we went to Memphis for my sister's surprise thirtieth birthday party. My brother-in-law got the ball rolling and my mom and I helped with the planning and decorations. It turned out perfectly. I think Heather felt very loved by all the friends and family that showed up. It was such a great night!

I was in charge of the decorations which was a perfect excuse to practice with my Cricut. (Man, I love that machine!) I made quite a few banners as well as a couple candy labels. They were super simple, but really worked great for the party. My mom handled all the fabulous food and was the gracious host for the evening.

Here are some photos of the party decorations:

It's hard to believe my sister is now 30, but it's also hard to believe that I'm a mother and my little sister in a college graduate. Wow, time flies.

Until next time...

Fisher is 5 Months!

Fisher is 5 months! Here's what's been going on the past month:
  • He still loves being on his tummy and is great at rolling over although he doesn't use it to go anywhere. He just rotates in a circle most of the time.
  • He really likes the pups now. He likes to watch them and let them lick his hands. He even giggles at Maeby and has started pulling their hair. Fun.
  • He still likes to move around as much as possible. He likes to stand up in his new jumparoo and he squirms like crazy while in his crib or on the ground.
  • He is still working on his sitting up. He does really well in the bumbo.
  • The drooling continues.
  • He isn't classified as a "thumb-sucker", but he definitely chews his thumb and fingers.
  • He is reaching for EVERYTHING. He has found the joy of pulling hair...even beards when available.
  • He really loves grabbing his feet. He especially pulls on them during diaper changes.
  • We are still waiting on more hair. It's there, but it is so light it is hard to see.
  • He is sleeping through the night great these days. Bedtime is around 7:15/7:30 and we are usually up at 7:30am.
  • He started rice cereal. It is a complete mess, but he seems to like it. He just can't always eat it successfully.

This month's activities consisted of:
  • Fisher attended his first wedding (and took his first long car trip) and looked like a stud. Our friends, Lauren and Dwayne, got married in Chicago.
  • He had his first and second visit to a zoo. The first was the Chicago Zoo and the second was in Nashville. He doesn't notice the animals, but he seems to enjoy people watching.
  • Fisher was also dedicated this month on Septmeber 30th. His life verse is:"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10
  • He attended his Aunt Heather's surprise 30th birthday party. Well, he was there...just sleeping upstairs most of the time.
  • He also supported us in Memphis while we did the Color Run...so much fun! Even though he was kept away from the colorful powder, Fisher still had blue boogers, blue hands and blue drool. Nice.

Well to say I'm amazed at how quickly he is growing is an understatement. I love being a mommy to Fisher and get such joy from watching him learn and develop each day. I really couldn't be more blessed.

Here are some more pictures from the past month of Fisher's life:
