Easter: The Day Fisher Became a Hipster

The Easter celebration began on Saturday with the Kee family at Laura and Jim's house in Mount Juliet. Fisher got his first fedora in his Easter gift bag from Gran and Pap (Grandpa Doug-Doug) and rocked it the rest of the party. I'd say he looked pretty darn cute.

We continued the Easter celebration on Sunday morning when Fisher got his first official Easter basket. We then headed off to church to serve at the 7am service and attended the 9am. Fisher was perfect all day long. We had to wake him up early to get to church, but he was in a wonderful mood and was great for the nursery girls. We then came home and all enjoyed a long afternoon nap. The evening wrapped up with dinner at Nana and Papa's. It was a perfect Easter.

I'm quickly learning that every holiday or celebration is better with this boy in my life. Easter was more fun with him here and much more meaningful. The sacrifice God made for us is so much more overwhelming once you have a child. I couldn't imagine giving Fisher up especially to a world of unloving, unbelieving sinners.

I'm truly blessed.

Pigeon Forge Weekend

We spent our weekend in Pigeon Forge, TN with Brent's parents, his sister and his sister's boyfriend, John. It was basically just a little family getaway before the baby arrives and we had a really good time hanging out with everyone.

We went to Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner Show on Friday night which is...well, it's an experience. One of those, just embrace your surroundings type experiences.  It was entertaining, but very country and totally "Dolly".

Saturday, I must say, was my favorite part of the weekend. We did a little shopping at the outlet stores and then I was treated by my mother-in-law to a prenatal massage. It was lovely. (Seriously, it should be a requirement for all pregnant women. I think weekly massages would do it.) While we were getting pampered, the others were supposed to be ziplining, but it unfortunately got rained out. Sorry guys, should have gone the lazy route like this lady.

Before we headed home this afternoon, we took a trip to Clingman's Dome. At 6,643 feet, it is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We drove to the trail which was only 1/2 mile in length, but was deceivingly steep. The hike was listed as "easy" which why this pregnant lady was willing to partake (also because the online description listed the presence of restrooms) ,  but trust me, it was more effort than expected. I'm pretty sure I should have been cleared by my doctor beforehand. Oops

Climbing up the trail was quite amusing. I seemed to stand out to others, but it also seemed to motivate people. You could see that "hey, if that pregnant chick is still going then so can I" look on their faces. Quite funny. When we made it to the observation tower one couple even said, "Oh, she made it!" Glad I had others invested in my journey.

Here are the photos we took along the way. (And yes, we took most of these as an excuse to pause the walking efforts.)

Memphis in March

This past weekend, the hubby and I went to Memphis for my first baby shower. It was hosted by a group of wonderful ladies from my parent's church and they completely spoiled me.

We received TONS of adorable clothes, burp clothes, bibs, blankets, some feeding items and we even got our crib bedding, our boppy pillow (totally needed) and our diaper pail. It was wonderful to say the least.

Here are a few pictures from the gathering:

After the brunch shower, mom and I enjoyed some craft-time at the house (and a mini photo shoot.) After spotting an inspirational image on pinterest, mom and I decided to make a wreath for each of our homes as well as one for Heather. We had fun and the final products turned out great.

Oh, and here are some creepy killer pregnancy photos that made it in the mix...

We only spent $40 total for all 3 wreaths. My mom already had the paint so we just purchased the 3 wreath forms, all the wooden numbers and the gerber daisies. Not bad, right?
