Preggers Update: 24 Weeks

Today marks 24 weeks! Check out my growing belly...

We had our latest doctor's appointment on Friday and our little man is healthy as can be! I couldn't be happier to hear it. We got to enjoy another ultrasound at this appointment where we actually got to see Fisher kicking me. It was crazy to watch him kicking on the screen while feeling him kicking me. And let me tell you, he isn't tapping around in there...he's rocking a "knock down the door" style kick. A true boy indeed.

At our appointment, Fisher weighed around 1 lb, 5 ounces and he's about the length of an ear of corn (almost a foot). Here are some pictures of our baby boy:

His sweet profile.
His cute little toes.
One of those feet that keeps kicking me.
His little boy part :)
That's our boy!
I'm in love with that face already.
Until next time...

Minor Kitchen Update

Our kitchen has been a poor design point in our home since day one. It is the only room that we haven't painted and the upper kitchen cabinets, although necessary, are strange. Call me crazy, but I'm just not too into the floating corner cabinets.

The game plan is to ultimately renovate the kitchen and hopefully knock down the wall between the dining room to set up a bar seating area, but seeing as we have a baby on the way, now is not the time for a kitchen reno. We do, however, desperately need some extra storage before our baby boy arrives. Here's what we did to help (on a budget):

1. We bought a small cubby bookshelf from Target for $80 to stash under one side of the upper cabinets. (Originally this area house an unneeded wine rack and the dogs' food bowls. We just moved the dog bowls to another part of the house and we'll probably sell off the wine rack.)

-It adds the extra storage, gives us a spot to place the mail and is a nicer looking set up than what we had before.

2. We added shelves (FREE!) to the right side of the cabinets to help balance out the floating corner shelves and again, add a little storage. (This portion of the wall was blank minus a clock.)

-It brings the dark wood finish from the bookcase to another part of the room and fills in the void. It also left the perfect amount of space for my fun project!

Now, for the fun project...

I decided that it would be nice to have a chalk board in the kitchen to put encouraging notes or bible verses, to list the things we are thankful for or just to write our grocery list on. I found inspiration on pinterest and decided on this creation:

I just purchased an inexpensive chalk board and painted the frame with leftover paint we had at the house. Then I glued another frame (without the glass or backing) on to the chalk board to create a layered look. I love the way it turned out and the double frame creates the perfect ledge to place the chalk and eraser.

I dig the update. It's a good temporary solution for us. (Although, I'm leaning towards getting the room painted sooner rather than later.)

Until next time...

Thirty One

I'M A THIRTY ONE CONSULTANT!

I'm a little excited about my new adventure. Thirty One sells affordable totes, purses, and accessories that are only available through independent consultants. You can host a party at your home, a catalog party or order online from your consultant's webpage. (My website is www.mythirtyone.com/robinkee.) They carry a ton of organizational items perfect for the busy lives of women and there are tons of great gift items.

For those of you that haven't heard of Thirty One before, here's a little blurb from their website:

"Our mission is a reflection of this philosophy: to celebrate, encourage and reward women by offering quality products and an outstanding opportunity to become successful business owners. We have seen this mission play out through the years in the individual lives of so many women who now have their own "Thirty-One story." Many work full-time jobs and use their Thirty-One income to help pay for those extras in life like vacations. Some of our Consultants had a dream to be debt-free and have paid off houses and cars. Others have seen Thirty-One become a lifeline to their families in difficult economic times. Despite all the bad news we hear today, our Consultants are selling at record rates.
Our stylish, affordable products are exclusive to Thirty-One. From our signature purses and totes to storage solutions that help organize your life, you'll find something to fit every personality and situation. Each season, we develop new products built on the idea that our products must be functional AND fashionable (and, of course, make great gifts!)."
When my starter kit arrived last night, I was PUMPED. (Yes, I know I'm a nerd. My husband has told me plenty of times.) Here's my nerdy photos of the moment:

My hope is to start making a a little extra for us to put toward our "Baby Fisher Fund". Eventually, I want to invest more time and make it a real financial benefit for our family. We'll see how it goes.
Check out all the great stuff on the website's catalog at www.thrityonegifts.com. If you are interested in making a purchase or having a party, please let me know!

Until next time...

Progress on Neil Fisher's Nursery

We been making a little progress on baby Fisher's nursery and with each item we add I get more and more excited. It's going to be a fantastic nursery, if I do say so myself. We're going for a fun "animal" themed space that babies and parents will enjoy equally.

Here's what's been going on:

Brent put up the shades for me. (We'll be adding curtains later as well.)
Here's the piggy bank that I'm OBSESSED with. I mean, come on, ADORABLE, right?

Here's the PERFECT dresser (soon to be changing table) that we found off of Cragislist. The best part was that it had already been painted a dark grey and the knobs had been updated to silver pulls.
And here's my West Elm owl lamp. I've been obsessed with this lamp forever and it fits our nursery style perfectly.

I cannot wait to see it all come together. The next big step will be painting the huge armoire and moving it to its proper location. (It was my grandmothers and although I love it, it weighs about 400 pounds so it's a beast to move.) Once we take care of that, I'll be able to start placing artwork, etc. So exciting!

Until next time...

Preggers Update: 21 Weeks

I'm officially past the half way mark in our pregnancy and I now know that there is a little man in there! Crazy.

I've been feeling good lately, just a little heartburn popping up here and there and some sore feet. Overall, I'm enjoying the "honeymoon phase" known as the second trimester.

I started feeling Fisher move for the first time (for sure) on New Years Day and he's been wiggling around ever since. (He's kicking me as we speak...does he know I'm writing about him?) It's been a great experience. The first movements definitely felt more like a fish flopping around in there rather than a butterfly fluttering like many women say. Weird, but fun. We're now just waiting for the moment when Brent can feel him too. Hopefully it will be any day now since the kicks are getting stronger and stronger.

Well here's my size update: So far I've gained 10 pounds and I'm not looking forward to how many more are coming, but my little guy is healthy and that's what matters so bring on the weight!

This week our baby weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long - the length of a carrot. A growing boy, indeed.

Until next time...

Our Gender Reveal Party!

To find out the gender of our little one, we decided to host a "Gender Reveal Party" on New Years Eve. We had a complete blast and it was a wonderful way to find out. We were surrounded with friends and family and I couldn't have asked for a better moment.

Here's the invitation we sent out:
Everyone that arrived was required to mark their vote on our "Cast Your Vote" board. Then we grouped everyone together for a photo based on their vote. Once all the votes were in, we passed out the cake balls that my dear friend Lauren made for us to all the guests and ourselves. Once we took a bite, we would all either see blue or pink cake to let us know the answer.

We have quite a few pictures from the party as well as a video of the reveal moment so I won't delay any further. Check it out...

We are so incredibly excited to know that we will be welcoming a little boy in May! We are naming him Neil Fisher and he will go by Fisher. (Neil is a special name to us...it is my grandfather's name and also the name of my parent's son who died of SIDS before I was born. I'm really proud to be passing it along.)

I cannot wait to meet our little man! As you can see by the photos, there are plenty of people ready to love on him once he arrives.

Here's a video of the cake ball reveal moment courtesy of my little sister. (Warning: It moves a bit fast around the room...please don't get sick.)
