Fisher is 9 Months!

Wow! We are three months months away from Fisher being a year old! Where has the time gone?! Here's my little man at 9 months:

We had his 9 month check up earlier this week. He's now 18 pounds and 10 ounces and 29 inches long. (According to a growth percentile calculator on Baby Center, he's around 50%-75% in length and 10%-20% in weight.)

Here's what's been going on during his 9th month:
  • He is a super fast crawler still and loves pulling up. He's now even cruising along the furniture!
  • We are introducing a variety of small bites of food. Avocado, banana, strawberry, peaches, mandarin oranges, beans, peeled grapes, etc.
  • This kid LOVES bananas! I can't eat a banana in his presence without sharing. As soon as he spots it, he bolts on over to get his share. (It's actually super cute.)
  • His top right tooth is on its way down! It will be so crazy to see my little guy with a front tooth!
  • His personality is really starting to come out. He's been very energetic and loves giggling even on his own.
  • He loves to shake his head back and forth (in the "no" motion). He'll even copy you if you do it first.
  • He's making so many more noises. It is so much fun! He definitely wants to have a conversation with us.
  • Month nine has been Fisher's month of sickness. We've been fighting cold, after cold, after cold, but he's been a champ through it all. We're hoping for better luck in the next month.
  • He had his first Valentine's Day!

Here are some extra photos from this month:

Year of Generosity: Sending Love to the Mailman

Brent and I made a New Year's Resolution to make this a year of generosity. We'll be heading to Haiti in October, but we wanted to find little ways to show love to those around us all throughout the year.

Today our generosity is focused on the mailman all just because I forgot I ordered Girl Scout cookies. Brent and I are starting a Daniel Fast in honor of Lent tomorrow (which obviously excludes sweets) and last night I received a box of Thin Mint cookies. Not great timing. Or is it?

We took this as an opportunity to send some love out to our mailman! Will he think we're nice or just crazy? Who really knows. At least we tried, right?

I know I'd be pumped about some free cookies (unless I'm about to start a fast) so let's hope he enjoys them.

Anything you've done to try to share the love? I'd love some creative ideas!

Happy (early) Valentines Day!

Until next time...

Family Photo Wall

It's been almost two years, but I FINALLY have some decor up on our master bedroom wall. I decided to make a collage of family photos to fill up this empty space. I love the way it turned out and it was super simple!

The frames came from my parents for Christmas plus a couple I already had around the house. I used wax paper and a sharpie to figure out my layout before nailing anything to the wall. It made the process so easy! No doubting if you'll like how it looks once everything is up on the wall. Love it!

Here's how I went about it and how you can do it too:

1. Lay out your pictures on the floor (or bed) and decide on your layout.
2. Cover the photos with wax paper (or any other transparent paper) and trace the frames with a sharpie.  (Also mark the locations of the hangers.)
3. Tape your guide to the wall and decide you position.
4. Start hammering in those nails and hanging your frames! If the frame requires two nails, I recommend checking that your marks are level before putting in the nails.
5. Once all your frames are up, pull down your wax paper guide.
6. Admire your new, beautiful wall!
I love how this collage helps distract from the huge return air vent. Now that it's not the only thing there, it's much less annoying.

Like I said, easy-peasy!

Until next time...

Fisher is 8 Months!

Here's what's been going on during his 8th month:
  • He is a speedy little crawler now. That kid can book it! He travels from the living room to his bedroom quite often.
  • He is pulling up! He's really embraced this new move. He's up in the crib all the time and constantly pulling up on the sofa.
  • He just finally mastered pushing himself up into the sitting position!
  • He still goes down around 7:15pm, but he's now started waking up a bit earlier (around 6:30am) which this momma doesn't love.
  • He's still eating fruits and veggies and now we've started introducing small food bites. He's had banana, grapes and pineapple. We also give him the snack "puffs" which he's done really well with.
  • He has his two bottom center teeth. So cute.
  • He is still quite chatty and says "mama" a lot. Yay! Still doesn't really say "dada" much. We're working on it.
  • He still really likes his walker. He gets a big kick out of us pushing him and chasing after the dogs.
  • We've discovered that he really enjoys sitting and reading with us. It's been a great way to keep him happy when he's a bit fussy. And we of course love the cuddle time.
  • He's started going to the nursery at the gym this past week. I like getting him used to different people and locations. Overall, he does well with everyone so it makes it pretty easy.

The big activity in his 8th month was obviously Christmas. And boy was that kid spoiled! We spent time his first Christmas in Memphis and then celebrated here in Nashville on the 26th. I'll post again with a ton of holiday pictures, but I'll include a few here as well.

Here are some pictures from the past month:

Cricut Christmas Gift

Here's a Cricut project I worked on as a Christmas gift for my parents, Momma C and Pops. They added the brown paper to the back of the old window to make it a little more visible on their wall.

Check out the final result:

The top portion is done with craft paper and modpodge while the bottom "Neil Fisher" portion was done in vinyl. The plan is to add the names of new grandbabies as they come along. The plus of using vinyl is that we can always pull it off and change it up if we need more space. I really like the way it turned out!

Thanks for the pictures, Pops, and good thinking on the paper, Momma C!

Until next time...

We are Going to Haiti!

Hey All!

I am so excited to announce that Brent and I are going to serve abroad as a couple! We will be taking our first international mission trip to Haiti in October, the 19th -26th, to serve with Mission Lazarus and our church, Crosspoint Community Church

The cost of both Brent and I to attend this trip is $3,300. Therefore we are now kicking off our fundraising! Please visit our fundraising page at http://www.razoo.com/story/Brent-And-Robin-Kee to read more about our mission and how you can help. Every little bit helps move us closer to loving those in Haiti!

We will get to love on sweet kids like this!

Thank you in advance for helping us go and love. We will keep you updated as we move forward in this journey.

Robin & Brent

Acts 20:35 "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

"I’m more convinced than ever that changing the world isn’t really that hard. The equation is simple. Go + Love = World Change" - Pete Wilson, Senior Pastor at Crosspoint Community Church

UPDATE: Less than 12 hours into our fundraising and with only 3 donors (and $25 of our own money) we reached our goal of $3,300! We are so thankful for the extremely generous donor that knocked out $3,150 for us.

We could have never imagined our fundraising going this way. We feel that God used this to make it perfectly clear that Brent and I are meant to serve in Haiti. It is such a wonderful blessing and we can't wait to leave in October.

We will continue to update everyone on how you can help us along the way. Donations above and beyond our needed amount will help others meet their fundraising goals. We will also be collecting supplies to take with us. As soon as I have more details, I will let you guys know.

God is good!

Until next time...
