I've Been a Mother for One Week

I'm a mother. Wow...that's weird.

I'll save the details of the day for another post, but we were blessed with the arrival of Neil Fisher Kee on May 16th at 3:04pm. He was 7 pounds, 9 ounces and 20 inches long. We are a little tired as we learn our new roles as mommy and daddy, but we are completely in love with our new son.

Here are some pictures of our sweet boy:

I'm still amazed that he is here. We couldn't be happier and I can't wait to see what the Lord brings for us in the future.

Until next time...

Reflecting on 9 Months

Our boy is about to make his debut (tomorrow!) so I thought it would be nice to look back at our adventure up to now. What a ride it has been and I can't wait to take the next steps and be Fisher's momma. We have been so incredibly blessed by all the people around us over the last nine months.

Thank you to everyone that has celebrated with us, prayed for us and spoiled us along the way. Fisher will be one loved little boy.

It's now time to say goodbye to the belly and hello to baby Fisher. Can you believe it?!? We are off to the hospital in just a few hours.

Until next time...

Preggers Update: 39 Weeks

We are now at 39 weeks and it looks like we'll be having a baby before we hit 40 weeks.

We were at the doctor again on Friday for a "well being" check for Fisher. (We are doing these checks because of the calcifications of my placenta which shows that it is aging.) We had an ultrasound first and since Fisher didn't move and practice his breathing as much as he was supposed to we had to be hooked up to the monitor at our regular appointment to watch his heart rate. Basically, he got an 8 out of 10 on his "report card". (Last week he scored a 10 out of 10.)

Based on the findings at this appointment, our doctor decided that we would not wait to get all the way to my due date, but rather induce me around midweek. Brent and I were told to decide on whether we'd like to come in to the hospital Tuesday night to have the baby Wednesday or to come in Wednesday night and have him arrive Thursday. We decided on  Tuesday night as the game plan, but the doc still wanted to see us again today for another quick "well being" check.

Today, Fisher performed beautifully (although he still took his sweet time to make his  required moves) and I am now dilated to 1 cm! Thank goodness! Now that I'm actually dilated I'm feeling much better about being induced. Being induced with no progress of mine own beforehand increases the possibility of having to have a c-section which is obviously not what I want. Even though there isn't much going on, at least I'm not starting from zero.

We are heading to the hospital around 8 or 9 o'clock tomorrow night to get the party started. We will be induced that night and will hopefully have our baby boy sometime Wednesday afternoon.

I can't believe the time has arrived!!! OK, I'm off to do laundry, finish "Thank You" notes, dust, make a grocery list for the hubbs, check my hospital bag...

Until next time...

OK, I now need to brag on my sweet hubby for a moment. I received an early "Soon-to-Be-Mother" Mother's Day Gift from my man to help celebrate the upcoming arrival of our baby boy. Check out this beautiful ring he got me. It is Fisher's birthstone and I couldn't be more excited to wear it!

Yeah, he's awesome. It is such a wonderful way to remember this amazing new adventure we're starting. Every time I look at it, I'll think of the two men in my life.

Until next time...

Preggers Update: 38 Weeks

We are less than 2 weeks away from our due date. Wow.

Here's my 38 week belly...and my really pale skin.

We had a doctor's appointment on Friday and got the latest update on our pregnancy. We now know that we will not be allowed to go a full week past our due date (if I don't go into labor prior) like we originally thought. The last ultrasound revealed that my placenta has some calcification which can cause the baby to receive less than the needed amount of nutrients and oxygen required. (Calcification is basically a sign of placental aging.) Once they notice calcification, they recommend weekly ultrasounds to check the status of the baby.

Because of this information we had a "well-being" check at this visit and Fisher is currently a 10 out of 10 (meaning his fluid, movement, heart rate, etc. is right on track.) We will have another ultrasound and "well-being" check next Friday followed by a growth check ultrasound on Wednesday. As long as things continue to look good, we'll be able to continue to wait for me to go into labor, but if anything changes for the negative, we will be induced. We could potentially go a couple days past our due date, but with the calcification a week past is no longer an option.

So...we should have a baby boy within 2 weeks or so. (That is so hard to wrap my head around. No amount of preparation or discussion or waiting can make it feel like the time is really here. I can't believe I'm so close to meeting my son. My son...wow.)

We are now entering the waiting game. This is my last week of work before maternity leave, we have the nursery ready, our hospital bags packed, the car seat loaded and everything washed for little Fisher. We just need little Fisher to arrive. We're ready when he is.

Until next time...

Nursery Reveal

So I'm pretty sure Fisher will have the best room in the house. How is that fair? Here's the "big reveal" of the finished space...

I think that about covers it. We now just need a little boy to arrive. We're patiently waiting, Fisher.

Until next time...
