Still Truckin' Along

Hey Kiddos.

Today was a wonderfully successful day which means I'm exhausted and after eating a boat load of Baskin-Robbins I'm pretty much worthless. Stick with me and I'll bring you some photos soon enough.

We're finally starting to see a light at the end of the house-work-tunnel. Finally.

Until next time...

Busy Bees Want a Break

Sorry for the lack of updating. There are plenty of things to show you, but time (especially blogging time) has been limited since the hubbs and I have basically spent the entire weekend and every night this week at the house. We're obviously there to make some progress on the many house projects, but I'm pretty sure we also go because Brent is convinced that if we don't at least make a quick visit someone will be there breaking in. (I think homeownership has made us paranoid. You should have seen me when there was a tornado warning. C-R-A-Z-Y.)

Anyway, we've been homeowners for exactly one week now. We started our first weekend with what I like to call "Power Painting". It basically means "let's paint everything in sight" which has continued on throughout the week and onto the new weekend. I would post pictures, but I forgot the camera at the house (we aren't moving in until next weekend) so those will have to wait until tomorrow. (I currently have what I call "mush-house-brain" which causes forgetfulness and mass confusion. It's been a rough week.) What I will give you is a quick breakdown of what has been accomplished over the first week.

Weekend 1:
  • Living/Dining Room Walls - 2 coats of paint (finished minus touch-ups)
  • Living/Dining Room Trim - 1 coat of paint
  • Bathroom Walls & Trim - finished minus touch-ups
  • Bathroom Vanity- finished minus touch-ups
  • Hallway Walls - finished minus touch-ups
  • Hallway Trim - 2 coats of paint
  • Master Bedroom Paneled Walls - primed
+ Boxes moved

During Week 1:
  • Hallway Trim - 1 coat + touch-ups = FINISHED
  • Bathroom - touch-ups FINISHED
  • Bathroom - new roman shade and shower curtain hung
  • Master Bedroom Trim - primed & painted 2 coats = FINISHED
  • Doors - 5 doors primed both sides, 1 coat on 1 side
  • Living/Dining Room Walls & Trim - all touch-ups & repairs finished
  • Living/Dining Room Closet - painted
+ Boxes moved & 3 emptied at the house (yay!)

Start of Weekend 2: (When Mom & Dad arrived)
  • Guest Room Walls -first layer of wallpaper removed, second (adhesive) layer started
  • Living/Dining Room - windows primed

Hopefully that gives you an idea of what we've been up to all this time. Basically we are painting every vertical surface in the house. Fun, right? Tomorrow will begin again bright and early with the parents help. I'll do my best to remember to bring the camera back to the apartment so I can finally post some pictures. It is amazing what some paint can do for a room. I think you'll be impressed.

Want to join us? I'll find you a paint brush.

Until next time...

"That's So Wrong" Wednesday Vol. 5

Are you ready for your Wrong Wednesday, kids? (You might be able to find a "That's so Right" Wednesday over at Simple Thoughts if you need it or at least a few design tips.)

Just when I think our new bathroom is a challenge, I see something like this that makes me so stinking thankful for our green tiled bathroom.

This one I found on HGTV.com. It is obviously the "before" of one of their bathroom makeovers. Can you imagine living with this one? I think I'd have to take a sledge hammer to it.

`

I can't even imagine walking barefoot in there. Eww.

If you were house hunting, do you think you could look past this bathroom? How awesome would the rest of the house have to be for you to buy this guy?

Until next time...

A Little Cheese

So I know you all want to see more house pictures. You want to see anything and everything that we have done and plan to do to our new home. I mean, why else would you be keeping up with this blog. (Like how I assume that you are actually "keeping up" with this blog? Ha.)

Well, you're not getting it. At least not yet because it's now time to get cheesy.

Before I jump into all the home progress that will fill up many a blog post, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has and who will be helping us along the way.

Our first two days as homeowners immediately reminded us of how truly blessed we are with loving friends and family. We have already received painting help from the in-laws and two of our friends this past weekend and my parents are spending this next weekend here to help us progress even further. I know there will be more than a few people helping us with the official move and whatever else we need to accomplish. It is an overwhelming feeling of love to know that there are people in this world more than willing to sacrifice their weekend to help us advance our dream. We appreciate you all more than we can express. (Although we will try to show it by buying you pizza and beer.)

I also want to recognize the fact that God has hugely blessed us in our marriage and in our journey to own our first home. Not that many months ago this house thing seemed so far away and out of our reach, but God came through for us as he always seems to do.

We are blessed.

OK, enough cheese. Don't fret, these types of posts shouldn't happen often. Although, I might show some intense emotion over some throw pillows. Just saying.

Until next time...

Blank Slate

An amazing amount of work has been done on our new home this weekend and quite frankly, I'm tired. I refuse to be one of those people (one of those blogs) that pretends that it's easy to balance getting work done on your house and well, anything else. I'm going to be honest, we accomplished a ton, but I'm basically behind on anything and everything else...reading, laundry, blogging, etc.
But lets stay on the positive side, shall we?
Before I jump ahead and show you what my hubby and I have achieved with our mad skills, I must show you what we started with. Off we go.

Den/Bonus Room - Entry from the Carport

I'm in love with the green paint. Aren't you?
(You better say no. That would be typed sarcasm people.)

1/2 Bath & Laundry Room - Laundry Room side
Lovely, right?

Kitchen - Looking from Den towards Living/Dining Room & Future Master

Kitchen - Looking from Den
Love that stainless steel, don't you?

Kitchen - Looking towards Den from Living/Dining

Kitchen - Extra Cabinetry
Awkward. Not sure what's going to happen over here. Stay tuned.

Future Master Bedroom
No, I'm not crazy...we've got big plans for this one.

Future Master Bedroom
I'm serious...It's looking better already.

Hallway - Looking towards the future master

Main Bathroom
Jealous of that green tile? It's pretty sweet.

Main Bathroom
Yes, those crappy shelves above the toilet are already gone.
You're welcome.

Main Bathroom Vanity

Hallway - Looking from Bathroom
No, your computer screen isn't messing up. The hallway is pink.

Extra Bedroom
No plans for this one yet. I hesitate to say that it will be the future nursery cause...well, you know...we don't want to start that game.

Guest Room
The beautiful wallpaper is going.

Sorry for the blurry picture. We can't all be perfect.

Such amazing paint colors, right?

Front Door is on the left next to me. :)

So that's the interior of our new home. If I wasn't so stinking tired from all the painting, I would update you on more, but yeah. Not going to happen.

Until next time...

SOLD!

Today, we bought our first house.  After signing a few (a million) papers and giving away all our money, we were finally handed our keys.  It was quite exciting.

Check in later to see all the Pre-Robin and Brent house pictures. Until then, I leave you with these...

"That's So Wrong" Wednesday Vol.4

Here you go, kids...

Yeah, this one is just creepy. Not much to say other than that.

This apartment actually belongs to French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier. It sits in front of the eiffel tower, with amazing views over Paris. Check out the doll comforter. That's just wrong. Way to ruin it, Jean. Way to ruin it.

All the rooms in his apartment are pretty, uh, pretty interesting. (I'm being nice with that one.) If you want to check more pictures out visit http://bestdesigninterior.com/crazy-apartment-interior-design-of-fashion-designer/

Now, if you need some really good design advice, please visit the newest design blog on the block, Simple Thoughts. You'll be amazed by his mad skills.

Until next time...
