Miss Me?

It's been too long. Sigh.

After a busy, family-filled 4th of July weekend, a week of extra long work days and household items breaking down, it's been a little challenging to find the time to sit down with the laptop and visit with my blog. But finally, I'm here and luckily I've managed to make some home purchases during my time away.

The hubbs and I have been working on furnishing our extra den area of the house. The hope is that it will become a bright, happy space that will welcome visitors into our home and of course, we also want it to be a good t.v. watching kind of room. (You can see a couple of my inspiration rooms here.)

The room's starting point was the used sofa purchase and this fabulous rug I snagged from o.co

We've also picked up a great storage ottoman to use as our coffee table and a orange lamp for a pop of color, both from Marshall's. Then tonight we grabbed a small bookcase from my favorite, World Market, to use as a side table/t.v. stand. Here's a couple pictures of how it is slowly coming along.

There is still a ton to do: window treatments, some accent paint, new ceiling fan and accessories, accessories, accessories... but it's definitely a good start. (Especially when you considered where this room began.)

I'll be posting more photos as we continue adding to the room. I hope to knock this one out before too long.

Until next time...

Simple Solutions: Momma Knows Best

Awhile back my mom purchased a couple wall hanging baskets for my house. She had one of her own and wanted to share the love so we popped into World Market to snatch them up. It was the perfect simple solutions for two areas of my home.

The first, smaller sized basket is housing my furbabies' leashes. They need to be easily accessible and always ended up setting out on one of our side tables which of course drove me crazy. Every time we had people coming over I found myself trying to quickly stash the leashes somewhere out of the way. Now we have a perfect home for them right beside our front door. It's such a small item that most people would never noticed, but it has become one of my favorite things in the house. Oh, how I love organization. Oh, wow. I am such a nerd.

The second basket is a little larger and is storing some magazines in our bathroom. Not that they are ever needed in there. I wasn't really looking for a magazine holder, but I was looking for something to fill in the big white, blank side of our bathroom vanity. It's the first thing you see when you walk into the bathroom and it just isn't attractive. We originally were hoping to add a towel bar onto the side of the vanity, but the awkward size didn't allow for it. Luckily, my clever mother suggested in the basket and it worked like a charm. Now there's something breaking up that boring white space.

Yay for simple solutions! It really is the little things that bring a smile to my face. Living with things clean and organized makes life just a little better.

Until next time...

Take a Seat

A couple weekends ago we decided to go ahead and purchase some new dining chairs. The ones we have been using up until this point are hand-me downs from my parents and they are broken with the cane seats sinking in. Friends always seemed to shrink as they sat in our chairs.

We plan to eventually purchase a new rectangular table and a bench from World Market as well so we can seat more people than our four main chairs. You can check out what I've got my eye on here. Of course, it can always change, but so far we are happy with our new chairs.

I think they look pretty darn good and they are super comfy which is a must when we have people hanging out for awhile. We also were able to snag them at a discounted price which always makes shopping more enjoyable. To make it even better, they were technically supposed to be full-price, but somebody accidentally left the previous sale tag on the floor model. Why is it that a discounted price seems much more exciting when it wasn't supposed to happen? It feels like such a victory!

1 point Robin...although I'm pretty sure World Market is still wining this game.

Until next time...

Changes in the LR

I have bad news.

After spotting the adorable yellow World Market curtains, I went to order them online just to find out that they do NOT carry them in the 96" length that I needed, even though the sales person told me they did.  It was very upsetting. I was left with the big decision of whether to use the yellow curtains by adding extra of fabric to the bottom of the panels or to move on to another set of curtains. It was a big decision. Huge.

So Saturday afternoon the choice was made.

I dig them. You?
